The Kees Van Der Westen Speedster is built for home baristas who want serious espresso performance without compromising on design. With dual boilers, precise temperature control, and progressive pre-infusion, it produces consistently excellent espresso shot after shot.
What truly sets the Speedster apart is its level of visual customization. From body colours to premium finishes, you can personalize the machine to match your style and create a setup that feels entirely your own. Elegant, durable, and highly capable, the Speedster brings a true café-quality experience into your home.
The Speedster is equipped with two separately functioning boilers: one large steam boiler to produce steam, hot water and pre-heating brew water and one coffee boiler with group to heat water to brew coffee. Each boiler has its own electronic temperature controller system, heating element and safety devices, offering extremely precise temperature stability.
The rear steam boiler has a total capacity of 3.5 litre. It is made entirely in 316L stainless steel. Wall of boiler is 2mm thick, the flanges are 6mm.
An electronic temperature controller uses a fast-reacting probe and activates the heating element via solid state relays. The display is installed at the front and includes an Eco mode that drops temperature to 70°C during idle periods.
The heating elements provide 1800W of power, split into two 900W spirals. There are no moving parts in the heating system.
The coffee boiler is a 2.1L unit with a 900W heating element controlled by a PID system for precise temperature stability.
Water is pre-heated through a heat exchanger before entering the boiler, then flows through an internal tube to match brew temperature quickly.
Made entirely from 316L stainless steel, the system avoids corrosion and ensures long-term durability. Temperature is adjustable to 0.1°C with an Eco mode that reduces heat to 50°C during idle time.
The group screen is sealed using a gasket that prevents coffee grounds from entering internal components.
The screen base is extra thick to prevent distortion and includes more perforations with a membrane instead of mesh.
The rubber seal ensures consistent pressure without needing excessive force when locking the portafilter.
The steam system includes a stainless steel wand and a four-hole steam tip designed for consistent performance.
Hot water can be delivered at two different temperatures using a toggle system that mixes hot and cold water internally for controlled output.
The system automatically removes air from the coffee boiler during initial use to maintain consistent pressure and flow.
Water is pre-heated and circulated using a thermo-syphon system to maintain stable brewing temperature throughout extraction.
A carefully designed flow path ensures minimal heat loss and consistent delivery to the coffee grounds.
The pressure gauge measures actual pressure at the coffee bed rather than pump pressure, allowing accurate monitoring during extraction.
The pre-infusion system gradually wets the coffee bed to improve extraction consistency and flavor.
A three-position lever allows manual control of pre-infusion before full pressure is applied.
A spring-loaded system ensures pressure builds gradually, protecting the coffee puck and improving overall extraction quality.
The machine includes multiple safety systems to prevent overheating and ensure proper water levels before heating begins.
Each boiler includes temperature limits, safety valves, and automatic shutdown features to protect the machine and user.
